Aerial Yoga and Pilates

Our Aerial Yoga and Pilates classes are suitable for all abilities from beginner to advanced. Our highly qualified instructors will guide you through the sessions giving you suitable options so that everyone can work at their own pace. All of these classes utilise a silk hammock which you can use to support and suspend yourself adding a whole new element to your workout.

Aerial Yoga

It's challenging, it's fun, it's effective. Aerial Yoga is a unique fusion technique, revolutionary in relieving compressed joints and aligning the body from head to toe. The Hammock acts as a soft trapeze and as a support while you master simple inversions and finally progress to more advanced poses. Explore the evolution of yoga into 3-dimensional space. This body/mind/spirit class provides everything you need to take part in a safe and challenging Aerial Yoga class and is suitable for students of all levels. Everything is taught with clear progressions.  Its a fantastic way to feel weightless, and the zero-compression inversions are amazing for stretching out your spine - especially great for those who may sit down all day in an office!

 

Beginning with a meditation and zero-compression inversion, we then warm the body through a series of Sun Salutations using the silk hammock for support, This warms up your body and mobilises your joints.. The class then goes through a journey fusing techniques together, so you will receive an awesome workout, gain strength and flexibility while having a great fun time with inversions, flips and tricks! Finishing the class with a Savasana inside of your hammock coccoon. You will leave feeling refreshed, taller and happy.

 

All exercises will be given at different level options where available, especially the suspension training techniques, meaning it really is suitable for all fitness abilities. If you've ever done suspension training at the gym you will love this class as the possibilities are endless!

Aerial Restorative

Aerial Restorative Yoga is the gentle, healing side of Aerial Yoga. This powerful method focuses the mind through powerful visualizations as it floats the body through a series of gentle gyro-kinetic motions, deeply opening the entire spine, hips, and connective tissues of the body. This technique features full body inversions, alongside various forms of flowing spinal traction. It offers accessibility to students with physical limitations, but is loved by all as a portal into deeper spinal flexibility, and mind/body connection. Taught in a sequential flow to music, the class incorporates levitating meditations, zero-compression inversions, supported sun salutations, joint opening poses, and a floating savasana. Working from different hammock heights allows for the gentle opening of hips and spine.  You will leave the studio feeling light and lengthened.

Aerial Pilates

“Aerial Pilates is an extraordinary new extension of the classic Pilates technique using a Hammock as a single apparatus to replace all the other conventional devices.”

 

Taking core-strengthening and targeted muscle conditioning to new heights! Aerial Pilates allows the student to perform Classical and Contemporary Pilates exercises from the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, and Ladder Barrel - all on the Hammock!

 

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance. Pilates' flexible system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. No muscle group is under or over trained. It enhances core strength and brings increased reach, flexibility, sure-footedness and agility.
